The Graduate

I know you guys have been waiting for the Howdy updates. He and I have been attending the Petsmart Beginner Training class for the last 8 weeks. Let's just say it's been interesting and I don't know who was trained more him or me. Howdy is a wonderful puppy and I love him but there is a stubborn streak like you wouldn't believe. Is he trainable? Depends on my patients level...but we did it!

I present to you Class of 2009 graduate, Howdy the Dog!

Hiatus is Over

Oh so I think it's about time for a new post, don't you? Thought so.

A lot has happened in the last two months and you might want an update. First, I have a boyfriend. Yes, I know it's a miracle...I'm more shocked than most. Here we will call him Rancher because that's what he does for a living...duh! He's wonderful and since he's the lucky guy who took me on my very first real date, he's stuck with me. He's the type of guy that always opens the car door for me; the type of guy that lets me complain about the same thing over and over again; the type of guy that helps cook dinner. If you want to know more just ask...details will be leaked slowly as to take up blog time.

Other things that have happened in the last two months:
-Brother and I had BS Weekend '09 in Baltimore.

-Attended a couple of Fight'n Texas Aggie Football games and listened to A&M beat the hell outa Texas Tech.

-I've attended the Chisum Ranch Rodeo where I rode horses; Fredericksburg Food and Wine Festival where I drank to much; and Wursfest the ten day salute to sausage.

-Hosted Miss Peddler's Bachelorette Weekend and it was fantastic...those girls can party.

-Tomorrow will be Howdy Dog's graduation from training class...pictures will be takend and posted.

-Allie B had her bouncing baby boy and is now awaiting my posts while on maternity leave!

It's been a busy and fun 2 months but don't worry I'm back and ready to make you all laugh and roll your eyes.

About Damn Time

It's not a secret that I have a horrible dating record. And let's be honest, it has been pretty much non-existant for the last 5 years. I've been informed by more than a few people that I've never really been on a true date. You know the kind where the boy drives to the girl's house; picks her up and then they go somewhere to eat or what not. I will clairify that I did have a few boys take me to Taco Cabana but apparently that doesn't count.

The spell has been broken my friends, this girl may have waited until she is closest to 30 but it finally happened. YES - a real true blue date that included the opening of car doors, a fabulous meal with drinks after. I guess you could say I've just been pocrastinating....that is what I do best!

I know what you are all thinking...it was a fluke. Ok, really that was what I was thinking but to put the icing on the cake; there is the possiblity of a second date tomorrow night.

Was the news worth the wait?!?!

Updates

I have been m.i.a. and I have news to share. The last two weeks have been chalked full of events that have rocked my world.

1. I have hot pink hair. Yes, you read correctly I have the most awesome hot pink section of hair at the nape of my neck. Conservative hair no more...I'm loving the surprise of wearing my hair pulled up with just a little bit of pink showing. The rock girl is coming out in me.

2. I'm putting the finishing touches on the plans for the BS Weekend trip to Baltimore. Including 2 baseball games, the national aquarium, and tons of seafood for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

3. The PA is back in Texas and we are meeting up for some quality family time on Thursday night. It's all very exciting and I can't wait to see her.

4. Something happened to me over the weekend and it deserves it's own post...later today so stay tuned!!! (you will all be shocked, proud, and impressed beyond belief)

Weekend Moving Work

After a week of travel and work I'm heading to Dallas this afternoon. My brother has to be out of his apartment by Monday so guess what I'm doing? You got it, being a great big sister, I'm helping him finish up the moving. There will be lots of yard work in my future, including pruning, raking, and general destruction. Howdy will be at my side, digging random holes and making a mess - that is why I love him.

BTW - my brother is scared to sleep in his house...looks like it's the airbed for me this weekend. No big deal - as long as there's AC - I can sleep anywhere.

Hotels make me lazy

I'm in Amarillo this evening - what is about going to the place you grew up that make you fill like your 16 again. When I come here I do the same things with the same friends I've had since I was 12. Is it the same for everyone?

What is it about staying at a hotel that makes me so tired? When I'm at home I get my second wind at about 10:30pm. You wouldn't believe what I can accomplish between 10:30 and midnight. I had a fantastic dinner with my BFF from high school and her boyfriend (possibly two of the funniest people I know). Now I'm laying in bed and am seriously considering going to sleep. First, does this make me a slacker? Second, am I the only one that doesn't turn the AC down to 60? I just can't stand freezing while trying to sleep.

For you Austin readers - I was completely soaked from this wet stuff that falls from the sky...sometimes known as rain.

Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Tuesday, August 4th was just that! As from my last post you know I was hoped up on caffeine so my nerves where shot anyway. I go to meet Miss Peddler for lunch and a run to Hobby Lobby for some of her wedding supplies. After a lunch of soup, salad and bread sticks, I walk out to the parking lot to find that I have a flat tire...not low but completely flat. For reasons beyond my control road side rescue has been canceled (now reorder via AT&). Miss Peddler uses one of her free calls but me being me I decide to do it myself. Why do I have to inability to ask for or receive help? A nice officer offers to loosen my lignite and the I sweat my ass off pumping up the jack. I get the car up and have 4 lug nuts off when the car falls off the jack. I repeat the last two steps and then the nice man from road side rescue drives up to find me with mascara running down my face sitting next to the car with brand new spare ready to go. He tells me that with the black top parking lot the temp is around 107 - awesome! He hands me my jack and tells me to put it in the trash...because it's broken. He takes to old tire off and puts the new spare on only to find it is flat too!

I just bought a new tire and found out that the "new" spare is original to the car circa 1998!

And in the middle of this boss calls to tell me that I need to be in Amarillo Monday-Wednesday to host out of town guests!

It's my crack

I just can't help myself. Everyone has a vice or two or twelve, right? Right now mine is Diet Whatever. I haven't been able to go a morning without it but now it's like I crave it when I wake up. I use it like some people would have their morning coffee but I am needing more than one piddly 12oz can to get me going. I'm talking about a freaking Route 44 from Sonic or the large from Whataburger. I just can't get enough.

Maybe I'll just install a fountain in my kitchen and be done with it. Do you think I could get one of those fancy ice makers to go with it?

Welcome Home

HOWDY!

That's right folks, there's a new addition to Allie's Halfway House. I would like you all to meet Howdy. This pound puppy is one of the cutest things I've ever seen.

He's a wirehair fox terrier that's about 5 months old. Howdy is smart and learning to walk with a leash so I'm open for suggestions. There was some lunging after cars this morning and they's not good. The house training is going well with only one accident so far.

He is getting pretty good at fetch too. What can I say, I'm one proud mama!

Shopping is work - right?

Talk about awkward...last night I was at dinner with my boss and his wife. It was lovely with wine and dessert. The whole nine yard. As we were waiting in the valet line my boss looks at me and says that he may no be in tomorrow; he and is wife have some errands to run. She looks strait at him and says, "No, I didn't mean for you to take the day off. I wanted Allison to take the day off; I'd rather go shopping with her." WOW - I just trumped my boss in level of shopping ability. It was super funny and uncomfortable all at the same time.

When my boss is in town we carpool, not to save gas or help the environment, but to allow his wife to have the car to run errands and what not. I picked him up this morning and he was giving me my itinerary for today which includes a 2 hour drive to Fredericksburg to buy a pink flamingo yard art thing and eating Mexican food.

I don't know about you but that is what I call a fantastic J-O-B!

Brown Eyed Girl recently awarded me with the Premium Meme 2009 Award!

"To accept this award, the recipient must list 7 traits about themselves and then pass the award onto 7 other bloggers who deserve recognition for the personality they share through their blog."

1. Procrastination - obviously I'll do just about anything to waste time. I've come to find out that this may or may not be the end of me.

2. Independent - Most of the time I try to do everything on my own. I'm not the kind of girl that needs someone to do something for me. This doesn't mean it I can't delay getting things done.

3. Dependable - You ask and you shall receive. Let's be honest sometimes you might not even ask but you shall still receive.

4. Messy - There are 2 places in my life that are messy; my bedroom and my office. I don't know why I can't seem to keep my crap picked up there but it just doesn't happen very often - SORRY

5. Organized - Yes, you can be organized and messy at the same time. You name an item and I can tell you exactly where it is. Except the packing tape and scissors - those things are always lost.

6. Creative - I can't explain how the flower arrangements are formed but I can see exactly what it will look like before I start. Some people tell me that is creativity; my mom calls it magic.

7. Sarcastic - You better believe I'll give you a smart ass response to any question you ask. My family will tell you that I was a sarcastic even before I went to college and started talking out loud.

Thanks again Brown Eyed Girl for the award! Now I would like to pass it along to the following bloggers...

Really?

Either no one reads this stupid blog anymore or you people are to chicken to make a comment. So anyway I guess I'll keep posting about random crap until there's a recommendation.

Anyone out there know anything about Baltimore? My brother and I are going there on our BS weekend over Labor Day. We are definitely attending at least two baseball games so that will mostly take care of a few nights...but we would like cool bars for after if you know of any. We've agreed on the National Aquarium and going to mass at the basilica. We are totally open for suggestions including cool things to do, restaurants (we LOVE seafood, well really any food), and site seeing. Please hook a sister up.

What's Happening

Ok so blogging isn't going so great. My life is in dullsville right now; it's too hot outside and I don't have anything to talk about (shocking I know). I begging for ideas...maybe you guys can give me a little inspiration. Have any questions you're dying to ask or anything you'd like my opinion on?

Everybody Can Suck It!

She started the show with a moonwalk tribute you the late MJ; and you better believe that Kathy Griffin was so funny last night. There was talk of MJ and Paris and Oprah. Of course her mom was the topic of many laughs in her moo moo and box of wine. There wasn't one group she didn't make fun of and it was side splitting. I wasn't really down with hate she put on Mrs. Palin but I can deal. I had a blast hanging out with Peddler and her mom and my mom too!

Meeting Up

Well here is a list of places that you are sure not to meet cute single guys.

1. My parents' pool...mostly young neighbors, friends, and family.

2. The snow cone stand....high school girls and families.

3. The grocery store...despite my intern's insistence I still haven't seen any prospects.

4. My office...sitting behind the desk is getting me nowhere fast.

And here are some places that could be promising.

1. The driving range...just a hook or a slice away from getting noticed.

2. Free concert...as long as my brother isn't mistaken for my date, again.

3. Lowes...maybe the cute guy in the appliance section will be able help.

Stay tuned....

Broken Up and Back Together

I know most of you have wondered where the hell I've been. We'll my blog and I had a fight and I won. So we broke up for the month of June off and now we're back together to annoy you some more. Session ended on June 1st and the started again yesterday. It's only suppose to last until tomorrow but I'll believe it when I see it.

On the dog front I got denied again (well maybe someone else was picked) but they don't give you the details. I don't want a purse dog but I don't need a 100 lbs either. I'm taking a break from that and will revisit the options later in the summer. Thanks to everyone that laughed at the fact that you can get denied a rescue dog...it is even funnier the second time around.

I'm also on twitter now too...it I get some more followers that I actually know then I'll start posting my funny one liners!

Summer is Here; Session is Over

I got my birthday wish...freaking sunburned like a lobster. The lake was awesome and I was there on a Saturday which means I wasn't in the office or delivering wedding flowers or sending a bride down the aisle. I Wasn't Working!

I wanted to hang out by the pool at my parents house but I was still to red so there was shopping and eating and napping and it was great. I've actually gone to the grocery store and watered the plants. Are these the things that normal people do? I guess that means things are getting back to normal.

Now on a mission to get the 3rd bedroom ready for a 3rd roommate...she gets here on Sunday. Need to find a queen size bed and a place for all my crap that is in that room. The Scott Halfway House is open for business and there are currently no vacancies...unless you're willing to live in the dining room.

Relaxing

We are in the home stretch of finishing session and I'm tired and tense. I've not purchased groceries in over 3 months and haven't seen my house in the daylight in over a month. It's all over on Monday night!

Last night I left the office before midnight and needed to look for end of session gifts for my boss and his wife. I found myself at Costco...and sat is this chair for 15 minutes. Yes it was in the aisle and yes I had to kick some kids out of it. I just sat there with my eyes closed...It.Was.Amazing!

Don't judge me!

Wishes

Thanks to my roommie who left me this awesome note on the back door. I haven't been home before midnight in about 2 1/2 weeks so it's very fitting.

Also what a great day so far...done 2 loads of laundry, morning mass and some great migas from Casa Garcia and it's only 8:08am. Happy Birthday to all those that are celebrating either today or in the next two weeks, including the roomie, vet school Johnny, my brother, Jess, James, Ashley and Brown Eyed Girl.

Denied: Update

Just wanted to give everyone a status update on the puppy adoption. Apparently I was dropped because I didn't give the blow by blow of my day. Basically I didn't say specifically that I would come home at lunch and let the dog out to do his business. Silly I know but if you're going through a rescue group you should be very detailed in your answers!

So I guess I'm being reconsidered for the puppy but at the lady told me...."there has been a lot of interest in Grover and his sisters so they are going to be very selective on who they choose".

PICK ME!

Denied

What's a girl got to do to get a dog around here. I've been thinking about adopting a puppy for quit some time. As I mentioned before I search www.petfinder.com on an almost daily bases in hopes of fining "the one". On Friday I after going through pages and pages I found a perfect, super cute, medium size dog. He's 10 weeks old Schnauzer mix named Grover! I decided to bit the bullet and fill out my adoption application for this adorable little guy and wait for the reply email.

Email received today - and I.Was.Denied! Can you believe it...denied? What does it take to adopted a stray dog around here. I mean, really, it's not like I'm applying to raise the offspring of Uno the Beagle. Don't you guys think I should at least have the opportunity for consideration.....

Missing

Prom Season is in full swing. This evening I have a couple of corsages to make and deliver for a high school prom that is tomorrow night. It's got me thinking about my own prom way back when. I was a sophomore in high school and I was dating a senior football player - anyway he asked me to prom and of course I was jumping up and down when I was telling my mom. I borrowed a dress from my cousin and got the jewelry and shoes, had my hair done in the fantastic up do. He picked me up in a freshly washed red mustang and we here rockin' it. Let's just say that by the end of the night I was missing an earring and I've held on to its mate ever since. So if your daughter comes home after prom with one less earring....

Haphazard List

Here is what's running through my mind at the moment:

1. Session will be over in 19 days...all I can think about is getting outside.

2. I really want a dog...I've been looking on petfinder.com everyday for the last 2 weeks. I've picked one out everyday for the last 2 weeks....

3. My traveling friend is back from New Zealand and Australia and I can't wait for her to visit me.

4. My pretend boyfriend was approved for the Marine JAG program yesterday. He leaves for Officer Training School on May 28th. I won't get to hang out with him all summer...I'm really sad but he's going to kick some major ass!

5. I'm loving this luggage from Target and I look at it every time is go...maybe it will be mine soon. It's on sale this week....if I can get there before Saturday night.

6. I miss all my friends. I don't see anyone anymore, not even my work friends. There is going to be some serious visiting of people when this is over.

7. My brother is buying a super cute house in Dallas. I can't wait to help him with whatever he needs me to do. He did after all, crawl in my attic to hang ceiling fans and help build a fence around my house when I was out of town. I'm a painting master...just hand me a brush.

8. I really wish it wouldn't be creepy for me to have a trampoline in my backyard. I loved the one we had growing up. It was fun and we spent hours on it everyday...mostly because our mom would lock us out of the house.

Friday, May 8, 2009

To Mom

I just want to give a shout out to my mom! Today is her birthday and Sunday is Mother's Day. She's one of the coolest people I know and I love her very much. I got to see her this week and we split some nachos and watched a movie...it was great. When I called this morning she was waiting for my dad to give her a chance to read the morning paper...good luck with that and I hope you get the cherry limeade from Sonic that you asked for!!!

Love you more than you will ever know....

Caught on Camera

So it has been requested by a few that I need to post....something funny!

Procrastination strikes again. I wore my pajama pants to the office this morning because there is a lack of clothes in the closet. I was in a much needed state of getting my damn clothes from the dry cleaners. I pulled into the darken garage with the hope that no one would be parked around me. Just so happens that J.a.k. had just pulled in too. I had to admit right there that I was about to strip down and change pants. She didn't seem impressed mostly she was concerned with the fact that there are security cameras all around and what if I got caught. If the person watching the screens saw me in my car changing...it wasn't the first time and probably not the last!

Oops I did it again...and again and again!

May Day

Happy May Day everyone! Decorate your may poll and dance around like a little girl or at least sit outside and drink a beer to a celebrate fantastic month ahead. What's not to love about month the has so many reasons to party: May Day, Cinco de Mayo, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, graduations and a ton of birthdays of friends and family.

I have opened the window in my office and I think the fresh air is helping my brain - I'll take what I can get. To close the window I have to stand in the window seal and do a full body hang. I was closing it last night and my boss yelled "Don't Jump!". After the day we had I couldn't tell if he really thought I was contemplating a long fall or if he thought it would lighten the mood but either way and we all had a good laugh.

So I notice that I only posted twice in April and the is piss poor. I will do better this month even if it means only posting 3 times!

Bitch Fest

Ok - so I don't need anyone to reply saying it will be ok....I know it will but I have a list to get it off my chest before I have a breakdown right here in the office. Yes - it's 9:36 on Wednesday night and I'm still here.

1. I hate it when people lie to me. NOT COOL
2. I'm tire; both physically and emotionally
3. I've lost control of my office and my desk
4. I feel really fat and eating out every meal isn't helping
5. I have a stress problem
6. The "problem" that arrived last session is back and it hurts
7. I feel a sinus infections starting
8. I can't get any drugs for it until it's been here for at least 5 days
9. My hair is looking like shit
10. I have to work 4 weddings in the next 2 weeks plus the real job
11. I'm out of money for the month and there is still 8 days to go
12. Someone needs to fix the garage door

How am I going to fix it....well I'm leaving the office now and I'm stopping to get ice cream on the way home. I'm going to wash my face and go to bed. When I wake up in the morning I'm starting with this quote:

When she gave up her excuses a hell of a lot more stuff got done!

Shuttlecock!

Yes I know that since the beginning of the blog that longest I've gone between posting was been just a couple of days. Well it seems that it's bee over 2 weeks now and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused....oh wait - does anyone really care...right, probably not!

It's currently 3:09am on Saturday morning and I'm still at f**king work. Yes it's true that creating the budget for the state of Texas takes some time but who knew that I would be sitting at my desk doing the same thing I was doing 12 hours ago! I should have brought pjs to change into. This totally sucks and I have no clue how much longer it's going to last.

Oh a funny note....yes I know this is what you've all been waiting for, right? Today the intern and I were playing badminton in the office. Yes, he received a set of rackets as part of his box-o-toys birthday gift. Well as we were hitting the shuttlecock back and forth; it was hit into the light fixture. You better believe we found someone to scale the wall like a spider monkey and get it out of there with the pointy end of an umbrella! Thank goodness the cock was retrieved...whatever would our office do in the middle of the night?

I've missed you all so please let me know if you're still interested in reading!!!

100th Post

Yes that's right folks - today is my 100th post. Who would have ever believed it? Well I have 12 followers so that's exciting and so of them are people I don't even know.

Last night I had a weird dream about a fish attacking me and it wasn't good...that's what I get for going to the Quality Seafood Market for dinner. I don't know what this means but I either need to go deep sea fishing or never go to the beach again. I'm voting for the beach but that's not happening until after June 1st, when the life goes back to sleeping until 7am and not being at the office until 10pm!

Thanks for listening and commenting on what's going on in my life...what's been going on in yours?

Peacocks

I'm wondering about my choice of make up today. I would say that 4-5 people have commented on it today. I've worn the same shades since college but I digress. I branch out every now and again with something different to the amusement of most. Yes folks - I'm sporting the "peacock" turquoise eyeliner.

There have been mixed reviews and 2 commented with, "I can't decide if I love it or hate it!"

Update

Just so everyone reading knows...work has been crazy. It's session and the blogging will be fewer as things progress. I haven't forgot about my blog and miss updating you on the stupid and insane things that are happening. Everything will come to a screeching halt on June 1st so until then bare with me.

Out my office window is it's dark and gloomy and that means one thing....RAIN. Bring it on, bring it on! I can only hope that I won't have to water my yard - that's the goal.

Ignoring the Obvious

I haven't posted about Florida coming for a visit for a reason. It was a good weekend and we had a great time. I have one concern/question: Is it weird that he was here for the whole weekend and we really never had a conversation that wasn't about drinking or sports? No talk of jobs or life or family/friends; nothing.

I think that's odd and it's all I'm going to say about it.

On a brighter note there are some super fun pics posted of the party that we went to on Saturday night. Here's a few for your viewing pleasure!

Of course

Well that procrastination has really set in tonight. Yes it's true I'm still at the office and it's 11:02pm. Rediculous to think that I piddle around and didn't really get a lot started until about 8:30ish. What is wrong with this picture?

I can tell - that I don't have a life....or that my life is session right now and that's the rest of the story.

Good day. (or goodnight in this case)

Birthday Wishes

This is Miss Priss's birthday and if you see her floating around the pink building today give her wishes. She's beautiful, funny, caring and an amazing friend. She can drink more champagne than any good girl I know. But most importantly she has finally decided that beer is actually ok to drink in public.

Happy Birthday to my awesome friend!!!

Rain Dance

I would never say that the rain needed to stop. But it would be very helpful if the 40 degree weather could double by tomorrow. Oh get real that's not going to happen but at least that means a Saturday at the house watching movies and what-not, right?

Maybe I'll grace Florida with some of my cooking? Yeah right, he's getting Maudie's just like everyone else that comes to visit me!

Happy Birthday!

to my intern...Ice Man is the big 22 today. I hope you enjoyed your cake and birthday in a box. Have a fantastic time at Dave and Busters!

Where did everyone else spend their 22nd Birthday?

I was working on Mackinac Island as one of the florist for the Grand Hotel. My new friends and I had dinner at the Yankee Rebel and then danced and drank way to much at the French Outpost (now the Gate House).

Slowing Down

Just if you're wondering....I'm tired and posting on the blog has been put to the back burner. It's session folks, and I have zero free time. There are bills piling up on my desk in large numbers. The hearing requests and committee substitutes are taking over my life.

Oh and have I mentioned that Florida is flying in on Friday. Yes I'm starting to get butterflies and no my house isn't super clean but you better believe I'm going to wait until the last minute to get my crap together....as always!

Nothing Coming or Going

I've got nothing. I've spent the weekend painting and am still not sure about it and Monday and today working my butt off. I'm boring right now but as soon as something fantastic happens I'll let you know.

Or something crazy/horrible/embarrassing/blog worthy...

Fun Pic

This was from the ferry as I was leaving Mackinac Island.

Weekend Painting

I've told you about wanting/needing to do a bedroom makeover. Well the weekend has come that I'll be painting and re-arranging in preparation for Florida visiting. Here are the blinds I've purchased.

And I've decided on are a light and medium green. The light green will be on 3 walls of the bedroom and the medium will be on the window wall and bathroom.

Fun and Busy times this weekend!

Nickels

This week had been crazy at work and I haven't even posted about my Lenten project. As usual I'm giving up sweets including cokes but I have also decided to limit my cuss words. I'm paying a nickel for everyone one I say and it's not going that great. Soon St. Mary Cathedral will be able to buy some new stained glass windows or a heating unit!

Whistle Please

Did anyone else out there think it was awesome when Kate Winslet was giving her acceptance speech and she had her dad whistle so she could find him in the crowd?

I loved it!!!

Dad whistle or something!

Guns and Spotlights

Last night was eventful! Just as I was getting into bed at around 11:00pm I see that there is a missed call from 2 seconds earlier. Miss Peddler called and I dialed to see if she needed something. YES SHE DID - someone tried to break into her house and she called me! I jump in the Lady Lex and haul ass down the street. Half way there I realize I have a gun and am not afraid to protect my friend....no I didn't turn around I need to get her asap. As I'm pulling into the driveway she runs out and jumps in the car. We call the police and start making the block to see if we can find anyone suspicious (we know we should have left this to the police but we are country girls and that's what we do). We see a creepy guy walking with a long stick and a coat hanger and by this time it's 11:30pm. The police officer pulls up next to us and we tell him that we saw a guy but could he please come look around the house just in case...he does, we don't find anything, and the cop knows of the guy we described. He leave to go track down the creeper and question him. We leave to sleep at my house were there is a pistol and an alarm system!

Look Alike

There is the a guy that works in my building and he's super sweet. He has been telling me for years that I look like a famous actress from the 20's. One day when I was out of the office I return to find a montage of pictures of her and a note explaining he had finally figured it out. Some might say this is weird but I found it endearing.

This morning was really the first time in over a year of know about Marion Davies that I saw it in the mirror...any thoughts?

Read Carefully

Today my intern asked if I'd be interested in getting a free sonogram. He handed me the invitation and it clearly says "ask any pregnant woman you know to join us." NO - I'm not pregnant; there is no chance I could be (thank you for the moral compass). I was amused and slightly offend all at the same time. I know my spanx aren't quite keeping it all in after my lunch of gumbo but really?!? What a self-esteem booster!

Lesson learned: it's never a good idea to ask a lady if she'd like a free sonogram even if she is pregnant.

Clean

Yes my house is finally fixed and clean! I had the plumber in on Friday and have working hot water in the kitchen, and new garbage disposal installed, and master bath toilet that flushes without water spilling out of the tank. Mom and I did a super clean on Sunday after the V-day wedding masterpiece including ceiling fan dusting, a pre-soak of the kitchen floor and then mopping, sweeping of garage and patio, and closet shifting. And yesterday was the best; a full steam cleaning of all the carpet in the house and yes he got ride of the nasty stain that was right at the front door.

Now all I need is to start on the room redo next weekend. I've got a paint color and some new blinds but still need stuff like nightstands...suggestions.

Room Redo

So I'm in the middle of planning for a master bedroom redo. I purchased my first house about 3 years ago and have been decorating one room at a time since then. The only rooms I have left are the master bedroom and the kitchen and since the kitchen is going to be the most expensive I'm saving it for last.

I have a king size bed with this quilt on it and really that's about it. The dresser is old and a little on the 70's lacquer so it lives inside the closet. I know there will be paint in some shade of green and bamboo or rattan blinds but I'm up for suggestions.

Paper Overload

So I finally cleaned up my house last night...truthfully just picked up all my crap from the last 3 weeks...I mean there was no vacuuming, dusting or actual cleaning involved in what I did. After it was all said and done I have realized the biggest problem is an overload of paper that accumulates on the dining room table, in the living room, in the entry way - well every single spot in the house. I bet there was at least an hour wasted in going through mail, junk mail, receipts, and papers. I have a large stack of my beloved magazines that I haven't had time to sit down and read...maybe after this weekend of wedding madness.

My house would be clean but I seem to have a paper overload problem!

iPhone Apps

So PA asked about the iPhone and some of my favorite applications!

Pandora - The music group that most have on their computer is available for the phone...love it for just hanging around the house while cleaning or reading magazines.

Around Me - A great tool if you're driving or in a new place...you can get the closest gas station, coffee shop or hospital.

Shazam - Maybe my favorite - you just hit the button and in 10 seconds it will tell you the song that's playing on the radio, elevator or movie theatre.

Take Me to my Car - Helpful when going out at night...you get out of your car and your phone will remember so when you bar hopped all night you just hit the find button and it will give you walking directions back to the random parking garage where you left the car.

Solitaire - because I don't get enough of this game at work...yes I'm a dork but that's why you love me...right?

Florida's coming to town

I'm going to need some serious moral support for the next month. Mr. Florida is coming to visit me and I'm already freaking out. We talked tonight and decided on a weekend and then the plane ticket was booked. What the hell am I doing?

Yeah and the moral compass is working and he's cool with it...he better be or he can go back to Florida.

I'm taking suggestions on things for us to do while he's here. I mean we have to do something other than drink and make-out all weekend...right?

Friday's List

So as I sit here making my weekend to do list it seems a little odd that buying a new garbage disposal; cleaning the fridge; and getting groceries are all on here. Lately it seems that I've gotten groceries, cooked, and then tossed out or put things down the disposal...feels like my money's going down the sink.

Fun times.

Cherry Limeade

i've been craving one all day! Sonic has happy hour from 2-4 daily...maybe there could be one in my future soon...along with some cheddar peppers and ranch. That's the order.

Things I'd Rather be Doing

So here is a small list of things I'd rather be doing right now instead of being at work:

1. Getting a pedicure - My feet hurt and my toenails are in desperate need of a professional paint job. Plus it's just fun and one of few girlie things that I do. I did get these for Christmas and they help but there's nothing like a pedi.

2. Playing golf with the Golfer - I got these awesome new golf shoes for Christmas and haven't had a chance to try them out yet. It's also sunny and 70 and I need some vitamin D.

3. Shopping with anyone who wants to go...my Spring Must-Have list is getting longer by the minute.

Brown Eyed Girl

Since you are the one that has questions I have a post just for you!

1. Since the beginning of when I can remember I've been a procrastinator. Waiting until the last minute to do just about everything is something I'm really good at too. And Allie, well, it's the nickname my mama gave me.

2. Of my 3 jobs I love doing the wedding flowers the most and to be more specific, delivery is my favorite part. Handing the bride the bouquet she will carry down the aisle is kind of awesome.

3. The 3 of my Spring must-haves:

a super cute cardigan from J. Crew

awesome straw hat without a wide brim

perfect spring shoes from Nine West

4. My favorite recipe to actually make (and eat!):
Cream Cheese Chicken Enchiladas
1 yellow onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups cooked chicken
1 cup roasted red peppers
6 oz cream cheese, cubed
2 Tbl butter
8-10 flour tortillas
1 lg can enchilada sauce
8 oz grated monterrey jack cheese
salt, to taste
Optional: Add 2 chopped jalapenos for more spice.

Directions
Thinly slice onion saute in butter approximately 15 minutes.
Add garlic.
Remove from heat and toss with the chicken and peppers.
Gently stir in cubes of cream cheese.
Season with salt.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Pour a little bit of enchilada sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
Spoon about a 1/3 cup of the chicken filling into the tortillas.
Sprinkle a little cheese over the filling (do not use all the cheese) and
roll up.
Place enchiladas into baking dish with the seam side down.
Fill entire dish (usually about 8-10 enchiladas)
Cover with the remaining enchilada sauce and grated cheese.
Bake uncovered for 20 minutes. You can also refrigerate enchiladas: cook
15 minutes covered, 15 minutes uncovered.

It might be over

I haven't posted in a week, that's 7 days people! I know I only have a few readers but I can't believe that no one had a single question for me. I might just end the blog right here if I don't get any love. Dilly Dally my constant commenter and I love her for that but I have over 2000 minutes in my roll over plan and I could just talk to her everyday for that. Comments please - yes I have been reduced to begging. Please let me know who's reading....

Ask me

So I'm bored today at work...anyone have any random questions they would like me to answer. They can be about me or otherwise!

Ask away!

New Sleep

I may or may not have been sleeping in the guest room all weekend. I may or may not be so busy and unmotivated that I haven't put sheets on the bed. Is there something wrong with this situation?

Thank You

I'd like to give a shout out to Miss Priss and Bill for taking time out of their evening to come over to my house last night. That was all the motivation I needed to get the Christmas mess put away. They wrapped ornaments, packed boxes and even helped with storing things in the garage. If it hadn't been for you two that tree would have stayed up until we hung Easter eggs on it. More importantly I got to hang out with them and talk about things that only matter to the 3 of us. Yes - there was wine and Taco Bueno involved to make it even better.

So to this post I say goodbye to this lovely that has been in the corner for long enough. Miss you and see you next year!

Love it

Here are some current things I'm loving today!

JB & Sandy Morning Show (Mix 94.7) - I was totally cracked up all morning with the radio. I've been listening to them since I moved to Austin 6 years ago and have laughed everyday thanks to them and the rest of the crew. Thanks guys - you rock!

Vivo's - Better than Sex...TexMex. If you read this blog you know I LOVE Mexican food more than anything and this place is great. I always order something that includes a puffy taco when I go there. The margaritas are outstanding; they have a stellar patio; and all ladies get a rose.

Juiced Berry Lip Gloss - This is awesome and I love it. No matter what your skin color it will look great - promise!

GRITS book - Ad girl got me this book for Christmas and I find myself flipping through it almost every night. It's funny and helpful all at the same time. And yes, I do have a wonderful cast iron skillet and pearls - thank you very much.

Too Long

How long is too long to have a Christmas tree still up and decorated in your house? Not only that what about the rest of the decorations too. Yes it true I've procrastinated this long why don't I just make some construction paper hearts and call it the Valentine's day tree! Maybe it could look like this one?

No - I promise not to leave my house this evening until it is taken down, boxed up and put in the garage! This is really getting out of hand - right?

Home Cookin'

When you invite someone over to your home for dinner it helps to have something to serve them!

So I promised Attorney a home cooked pot roast dinner tonight. I had everything ready to go and layered everything in the crock pot perfectly this morning. The salad is ready and the rosemary potatoes are in the oven roasting. There is garlic bread and maybe a little dessert.

One problem: When you do all of this work and turn the crock pot on before you leave for work it is ever so helpful to actually plug the stupid thing in!

That's right - I came home to crunchy carrots and a raw piece of meat - sucks to be me and Attorney. We're going to Double Dave's to have some 2 for Tuesday pepperoni rolls.

Hookers and Ponies

So when you try on a pair of hooker boots that are in your size and 70% you just know something has to go wrong. I slipped that boot right on like it already belonged in my closet, and walked around to make sure it was just conservative enough to not get me into trouble at work. Then it happened....I tried to take it off (to put in the box for purchase) and I couldn't get the son of a bitch off. Not even kidding when I tell you the sales associate just stared at me like I was a lunatic. I had to sit down in the aisle of the department store and tug and pull to get them off and you know the stress of everyone looking didn't help either. Finally I got it off and got the hell out of there!

You better believe I then ventured over to Nine West and made this beautiful purchase...way better than the stupid boots!

Sorry Miss Priss I tried to call and make sure you wouldn't mind if I stole your pattern.

Pedicure Please

I wouldn't consider myself a girlie girl but I do enjoy being pampered. Over the last week I've been in desperate need of a pedicure. It's past the point of just a good paint job but I would like a scrub and rub too. I finally took off the cracked and chipped polish and have been bare for almost a week now. Having worn high heels for the past 2 weeks straight hasn't been the best thing ever so hopefully I'll get some time for a pedi...

Other plans for the weekend include but aren't limited to: cleaning my trashed out house; getting the office ready for a new tenant; celebrating Miss Peddler's birthday with dinner; coordinating a wedding at the cathedral (job #3); taking some clothes to the tailor; and maybe getting some sleep!

The Steaks are Sizzling...

and DE-licious that's for sure. Session has officially begun now that I've had my first steak of the season. Austin Land and Cattle is one of the best places for a steak in town. They also have my most favorite appetizer ever, the roasted green chilies stuffed with goat cheese. Today I'm giving props to them for making my happy last night and filling my belly with awesomeness!

I'm also procrastinating on writing the thank you notes for Christmas presents that should have been sent out over 2 weeks ago...so sorry if you haven't received yours yet...it's in the mail! ;)

Cock Fight

So just wanted to let everyone know that I'm taking money on the fight that is set up in my office. Comment me with your bets!

140 Days

Happy First Day of Session to all my friends at the Texas State Capitol

Today starts the making of laws, early mornings and late nights, time with friends and enemies, and lots of free food. Have a wonderful day and I'm thinking about you!
