The Deer Slayer

So the drama with the vehicle exchange is going downhill. I have purchased 2 expeditions in the last 4 years. The first one went up in smoke and flames and was not my fault but still had to pay for it since I was over the warranty. The second one was great but when it was costing me $115 a week in gas I about died so my parents helped me out by buying it from me and I then purchased my mom's car. I have loved that car since I took it to Oregon over 8 years ago...yes that means the Lexus is now 10 and still running. This is also the said car that I "totalled" the Christmas of 2004 (apparently if the airbags don't deploy it's not totalled).

Well on the way to my parents house on the 23rd, there was a massacre of a small doe about 20 miles North of Brady. The murder weapon; a 1998 pearl Lexus! Yes in all my years of night time driving in West Texas I finally joined the Deer Slayer Club. I've always been told not to swerve or slow down and thought to myself it would be impossible to do. Yeah - no so much...I saw her in road and did slow down as I was laying on the horn. On the night of December 23rd, our precious doe was called to Jesus. I said a little pray and thanked the Lord that the car was still driveable and went on my way. I'm just ok with knowing that she didn't come through the windshield and land in my lap.

Merry Christmas!

Grapefruit

coming out the wazoo here at the office. Not kidding so many that if I ate one everyday for the rest of the year there would still be 10,000 left. If you would like some please stop by and bring your own back (this ain't Wal-Mart)!

In all reality if you would like some delicious Ruby Red Texas Grapefruit stop on by and help yourself.
This word doesn't exist in my vocabulary...does anyone else have this problem?

Hyperventilation

So it seems to me that I'm starting to hyperventilate about the holidays. I was good until I got home from Florida and realized I've totally over extended myself and believe that I am in fact super woman.

I've got decorating to do, cooking to start, parties to host, presents to buy, 100% of all my wrapping to complete, laundry to wash, dinners to attend, cards to address and mail, plus actually going to work and doing things there.

Dear Lord,
Please grant me the ability to get my entire list finished. I will work very hard and promise not to scream at anyone or shave my head like Brit did in 2007. I know that this is a problem that I have created on my own. As my New Year's Resolution to say NO more frequently and will try to not feel guilty about it.
Amen

Why Vodka, Why

Apparently I decided that this was the weekend I should start drinking large quantities of vodka. I'm not really a hard liquor drinking but fear and nerves will make you doing crazy things....like order double vodka and diet coke and not think twice about it until you can't actually think at all. Fun times! I have lots of stories about my reconnects with the boy and will post them soon.

Things went well and there was lots of drinking and making out....my two most favorite things to do!

Early Merry Christmas to me!!!

I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane

That's right I'm getting the heck out of here today. I'm going to sunny (damn it, it better be sunny) Florida today. Remember a couple of months back when I was asking for advice well it's about that time. The bags are packed and I'm ready to go...but I might vomit first. Nerves are getting the best of me today and I'm in desperate need of a Diet DP before I start getting a huge headache.

Miss Priss came over last night to help with the packing situation, yes it was a situation....that required wine, lots of wine. Each outfit is now packed down to the accessories and I'm getting away with only 3-5 pairs of shoes (depending on if I can squeeze one more in before I hit the 50lbs mark!

Choice of outfit for first meeting: Gap Trouser Jeans, Magenta lace tank, Black long-sleeve t-shirt wrap, Black patent leather peep-toe heels, and the 3 string turquoise necklace

Much luck needed!!!

Good Friends

Picture this. Shopping at the outlet mall last night with a friend and she had totally loaded up on clothes for her 2 adorable little girls. Yes, complete with footy pjs with reindeer on them! She is trying to check out and her debit card won't go through, and then the credit card won't work and even worse her check won't clear. Besides calling her husband for help and nothing is working there was drama. I love her so I just handed over my card and she wrote the check to me...I'm a good friend, I know!

PS. At the next store her card was working fine so store #1 needs a new computer...maybe Santa should put that on the list!

The Hunt

So lots of things happened this weekend that were hilarious. Picked up 110 live birds from a lady named Clydene. Having multiple people rubberneck when parked at Sonic with above mentioned birds in back up of pick-up. Being harassed by the lovely senator and dishing it right back. Thinking that it's cool that they know me well enough to call me out on my bullshit. Having my dad and his friend chime right in on the "Harassment of Allie". Playing poker and loosing money that wasn't mine. Being called a chugger by those that watched my face turn red every time I ask for another beer. Laughing at every minute of it for it's all in fun and games.....and that was just Friday night!

Maybe She's Born with It

Maybe it Maybelline! I want to give a bonus star today to the Maybelline company...I believe they have the best lipstick I've ever worn. Really my only requirements are that it stay on all day, and look good. Let me tell you this one does all of this and more. I put it on in the morning before work and I don't have to reapply...ever, not even after lunch. Actually, I have to do a little scrub to make sure it's off before I go to bed, sometimes that can be 15 hours. You can leave it as is or apply some fun VS lip gloss over it. My color choice is Raisin but I've got a large array of colors so go for it. It's less than $10 and you won't be sorry - promise.

Maybelline Superstay Lipcolor

Baby, It's Cold Outside

So every year about this time I head to the Texas Panhandle for work and a little play. You would think that after growing up there and visiting this exact same weekend for the last 6 years I would know better. I got into my car this morning and it was freaking 28 degrees outside. No wonder I was freezing my ass off...I'm leaving right after work for a heavy coat and some hand warmers. Supposedly it's going to "warm up" for the weekend but I'm not so sure I'll warm up between now and then.

I had breakfast this morning with an old high school friend and her little boy this morning. He's the cutest almost 2 year old I know...I thank him for sharing his race cars with me at Chick-fil-A. And then tonight I'm having dinner with another friend...it's just like old home week.

On a more fun note - I took this picture as I was driving yesterday...my childhood house is about 10 minutes from here.

Leaving Town

I'm heading out of town today....if you know where I live, please don't let anyone break into my house! I'm not really worried but still - totally not cool since all my Christmas gifts are there.

My boss has a fundraiser every year that I help manage. It's a pheasant hunt in his home town and it's awesome. Deep down I'm a country girl (but I conceal it well, sometimes) so it's fun for me and everyone else that goes. I get to go to Harper's Game Farm and get the live birds, eat some of the best food, and hunt. There will be tons to discuss and funny things to post while I'm there so get ready. Last year my boss gave me the bird at the final dinner...

December is here

So I did a horrible job of posting in November so I'll try and make it better this month.

December is here and that means many things. The Christmas season can officially start, the end of the year is near, and my calendar is jam packed with things that make my head hurt. Don't get me wrong - I love a holiday lunch, drinks, happy hour, dinner or dessert party more than anyone will ever know. I just saying that it's December 1st and I'm tired. Can I have a holiday before the holiday?

On a bright note the radio is tuned into Christmas Carols 24/7....what is everyone's favorite, religious or not?

Religious - Ave Maria (not really a Christmas song but it's played and I LOVE it)

Festive - Silver Bells

Not a waste today

Most people that actually came to work today are taking it easy and not doing much...not me! I've been on a cleaning kick this week and am working my bee-hind off to get some progress made on the crap house that is my office. I have the most amazing antique furniture in here and it's covered in crap, paperwork, binders, folders and stuff that I need to go through and then toss in the trash (recycle).

I'm getting there faster than I thought I would so that's a good thing but I have one hour left for work and it's going to be productive - promise!!!

To My Loyal Reader

Yeah I think that Dani is the only one out there that actually misses me. Just kidding but I'm sorry I haven't typed in lately. Can I tell you how insane things got last week...obviously crazy enough that I haven't had a moment to procrastinate in over a week. I know that's hard to imagine but it's simply true.

I have to give BONUS STARS to Miss Priss for helping swing back to the land of folders, labels, and the ability to see to the bottom of my desk. Yes, that's right ladies and gentlemen...I can actually see the green felt on the other side of the glass. If you don't believe me look at this!

This is what I still have to work on and I promise to get it finished before I go to Florida on Dec. 11th. So please if you read this and feel so inclined, email me and tell me to finish cleaning out files and tossing crap in the trash. There is a goal here and I plan to meet it - hopefully!

Stress City

Just wanted to let everyone know that between this moment and Saturday night I might not but that much fun. I've got flower coming out my ears and tons of work to do. It's not that I've procrastinated too much just that I love Jessie and I want her wedding to be amazing. I still have to pick up the Uhaul, pick up the iron pieces, got to Hobby Lobby one more time, drive to Dallas, create a magical wedding with lots of flowers and candles. At least I have a my dress ready and Traveling Christie and my mom will be there to slap me silly if I start freaking out.

Wish me luck - I'm going to need it.

Pics from the wedding will be posted when I get back on Monday -or Tuesday!!!

I did it again

....waited until 11 days before everything has to be turned in to the courthouse for defensive driving. I've spent the better part of today taking it online and will hopefully be finished before lunch tomorrow. At least it's not the night before it's due so I am getting a little bit better. Thank goodness for overnight mail....right?

Salads

Oh and I'm not talking the healthy, good for you kind either. I'm craving something covered in dressing and croutons with just a little bit of lettuce. I love toppings and dressing....all the lettuce is there for is to make that stuff easier to scoop up with the fork, right?

Wedge
Caesar
Cobb
Taco
Waldorf
Chopped

Any others that you can think of that sound equally as tasty?

Friday Blahs

Most people are super excited for the weekend to be here and I'm no different. I love knowing that I don't have to fight morning traffic to get to the big, pink dome. I won't be sitting at my desk fielding phone calls, answering emails, and deciding what things need to be tossed out and what needs to be saved. I've got big plans of yard work, getting some car work done, laundry....for Saturday. On Sunday is a birthday party for a 3 year old and driving 4 hours round trip to attend. I'm the best Aunt Allie there is - promise.

You do notice that I have no evening plans for tonight or Saturday...is this reason to be concerned? In the words of Bro - maybe you should think about getting an life that doesn't involve work or other people's kids...

Esquire

So this blog is to honor the newly recognized Mrs. Carrie Semple, Attorney at Law. I'm so proud of her for kidding ass on the bar exam and becoming a big girl lawyer! I can say I knew her when....

Take me to your leader!

Conference Calls SUCK! So I've been on a conference call for the last 45 minutes and I think I might shoot my foot. It's dragging on forever and I really need pee. Just make a decision and lets move on - old men need to get on the ball and listen to what I have to say - HOLLA

Happy Halloween!

Splitsville

Even though I competed in a running/biking relay race on Sunday there is a serious problem. I'm concerned that maybe the dry cleaners shrunk my clothes or the washing machine in the garage just hates me. I was getting dressed and thought I was looking cute in a pencil skirt and black jacket but oh hell no. I bent over to pick up my purse and the freaking lining is the skirt totally split. I'm not talking a few stitches but all the way from top to bottom! Maybe this fat kid needs to do some more running before all her clothes bust apart. :(

Excuse Me?

So when you are enjoying your Soup, Salad, and Bread Sticks dinner with Miss Peddler it is not appreciated when you burp as loud as you can in the restaurant. Not even kidding when the super loud table of teens next to us fell silent just long enough for one of them to belch (probably long enough to say the alphabet). I'm the first one to snicker at something like that when eating around the coffee table and maybe Olive Garden isn't the nicest place in town but really - come on people, there's a time and place to being gross.

Racing not so quickly

So the morning of the race probably wasn't the best time to decide that maybe I wasn't a good mountain biker....poor Dilly Dally passed me up running and I was on the bike. Sad but true, I probably should have trained and didn't but at least I finished and have the bruises to prove it!

Muddy Buddy

You better believe that I've waited until the last minute to make the shirts for the Muddy Buddy Race this weekend. Nothing like leaving in the morning to get a ton-o-shit finished! Making t-shirts, getting oil changed, dinner with friends, at wedding consultation and endless other things before leaving for Dallas tomorrow at noon. Wish me luck or kick me in the ass - take your pick, I kind of deserve both!!!

Boy or Girl

So when you print out a baby registry and can't find anything under $50 left what are you going to do. My first thought was getting a box of diapers and get out of there. I opted for a cute car seat toy and a gift card. Freaking-A, when I got home you better believe that I grabbed a gift card for a little boy and not a little girl. The actual card had cute little baby booties on it in an array of colors (both blue and pink) but on the back it say Congratulations on Your Little Boy. What do I do - try and get it transferred over to a girl gift card or but leave it?

Blow This

I was sad to see that Target isn't carrying the blow dryer from 1999 - yes I was on a quest to replace the fire bomb. I opted for a very smart investment last night - a travel blow dryer with travel size diffuser. I'm going on a couple trips in the next couple of months and was debating on getting one anyway - so I bit the bullet. Let me tell you it was fantastic - I have good hair this morning; it dryed super fast; and nothing caught on fire!

It's Getting Hot in Hair

First I haven't written in a while and I'm sorry about that but when I go out of town for the weekend blogging isn't on the brain. Frankly there really hasn't been anything super blog worth until today!

Just a suggestions to all those out there that own a blow dryer...when you see sparks that's a hint the you might need a new one. The handle on my 1999 dryer has been getting amazingly hot as I use it. Today was the end - it actually caught on fire and flames were shooting out of the cord. I was in the middle of the blow drying so you better believe I finished with flamed a blazing!

RIP - Revlon 1875 watt wonder of hair and diffuser to all things curly. This dryer has seen me through some great hair styles including the long and short, the curly and straight. The diffuser is the best and I'm going to miss you dearly.

Avon Calling

Well not really Avon but for some reason I've been getting tons of crazy phone calls lately....makes me wonder if someone wrote my name on a bathroom wall. Then hopefully it would be boys calling and since that's not happening oh well.

At lunch today the person driving parked in a service zone...the parking ticket was only $10 but actually paying to park was going to be $15 - DUH

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

What-a-what

So when you need a quick little nap at 12:30am on a drive home do not - I repeat do not pull into the Whataburger parking lot and crank the seat back. Someone will come up to your window and scare the ever living shit out of you and when you scream they will scream back.

I'm just saying!

I didn't even have the guts to go through the drive thru to get a Diet DP - embarrassing...

Brookwood Community

I promised a separate post about the Brookwood Community.
http://www.brookwoodcommunity.org/

Last Friday my mom, Grandlin and I all road tripped it over to Brookshire, Texas to eat lunch and do some shopping at the Brookwood Community. This place is one of the most amazing facilities I have ever been to and should be a model. It is an educational/residential home for disabled adults. They have a cafe, gift shop and greenhouse that is run by the teachers and students. I went there often with I was in college to take tours and help out in the greenhouses.

It was the best food I've had in a long time...everything was homemade and down right DE-LICIOUS!!! The shopping was fantastic and wished they had a store in Austin that I could go to - the items there were half market purchases and half things made by the residents.

I'm not kidding when I say they have one of the finest greenhouse facilities and the plants they had for sale were phenomenal. 10,000 times better than anything I could get at Lowe's or Home Depot. I'm a plant freak so that just made my day. I would drive the 2 hours from my house to eat, shop and by plants there. The staff is happy to be there and they have students work in the cafe and shop too!

Check it out: http://www.brookwoodcommunity.org/

Weekend Update - Part Two

Friday Night - Dinner with the whole council at the local winery where I proceeded to drink about 5 glasses of wine and watch my dad give his outgoing president speech. Post drinks with friends at the bar that when I was in college I had way to much crawfish and beer and got sick prior to making to the bathroom. oops! sorry about that pool table

Saturday - Amazing tailgating before the game including sausage wraps and beer....the be all end all of things I love about football. Thank goodness I got those because the game was brutal and I left the stadium with a pit in my stomach. We lost so I met my parents in the parking lot for beers and wings. I was going to go out but sat at the camp and drank with friends and family - much better after the lose.

Sunday - Met back up with the parents for a breakfast like no other. La Bodaga has yummy thing that I have missed - including the pulled pork breakfast enchiladas!!!

That was the weekend craziness and I'm ready to do it all over again this weekend depending on tickets to the game!!!

The Weekend Update - Part One

So I know I didn't post for a few days and I have good reason, promise. I was in Aggieland for more than is considered a long weekend. I left work at 3:30 on Wednesday and was there until Sunday afternoon. As a "grown-up" I joined the College of Agriculture Development Council (COADC) - we advise the dean and provide tons of scholarships to students. We had our semi-annual meeting this weekend and there was a ton of stuff going on and it was a blast:

Wednesday Night - My dad and I hosted a dinner for 7 undergrad students to meet and discuss ethics in today's work place. The question I asked at the end was funny - is it ethical to come to a dinner for class credit when you only show up because it's free food? - hell yeah it is, these kids were hungry

Thursday Day - My mom, Grandlin and I road tripped it over to the Brookwood Community to eat lunch and shop. This is deserving of a separate post!

Thursday Night - The Scholarship Reception was fun and I got to see some of my old professors - they haven't changed a bit. I had one old man ask what my plans after graduation were and I told him I had no clue. I know I look 19 but I'm actually 28 and have 3 jobs - didn't feel the need to remind him of this for the 10,000's time. Then off to dinner with the executive members of COADC to meet the incoming director. She's great and will fit in well but I'll miss my extended phone time with Dilly Dally.

Friday Day - The business meeting was good and we had an amazing speaker that was there to talk about the war and mostly how A&M has sent people to Iraq to help with rebuilding the agriculture community and get back on their feet. No lie - I was amazed and extremely proud. Tour of the meat lab - yes they process an animal from the trailer to the freezer. Oh don't pretend to be grossed out - it happens and someone need to know how to do it correctly. The prof that was showing us around pointed me out specifically and said the if I didn't want to go to the kill floor he understood. I told him I was a blood and guts kind of girl and as long as my high heel weren't a problem to show me the way. SHOCKER!

Weekend Madness

So I know I thought I'd be able to post while I was in Aggieland but yeah - not so much! I have tons to write about but the boss is in town and it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Just wanted to update you on Project Florida....I booked my ticket this morning and will be spending an extra long weekend there with a guy that I haven't seen in over 7 years and only email about 4 times a year. I'm crazy, I know so no need to remind me.

Steak for dinner - thank you BOSS MAN!!!

Florida Predicament

Boys will be boys and I'd really like to join in the fun....

The summer before my senior year of college I did an internship on the Oregon coast and it was lovely. I worked on a cut flower farm with some great people. One of those ladies has a son that befriended me while I worked there. He was the only person I met that was my age and more than anything I think he felt sorry for me. I had a boyfriend at the time but soon after my return to Texas we broke up. That was eleven years ago - I digress.

We have emailed back and forth for the past eleven years just to keep tabs on each other and usually only during football season to give each other a hard time or brag about our teams, never anything more than that. About 5 years ago he moved to Florida and ever since has invited me every year to come visit and go to a Jaguars football game or something. I've never really thought about going until this year, without even thinking I said sure. So I'm about to book the flight and am freaking out. I'm nervous that there will be expectations so I need someone to tell me that it will be a fun trip to see an old friend. It's only for a weekend and if it sucks at least I get to go to a football game.....mostly I need support.

Help this single girl branch out of the comfort zone that for the last 6 years has been her couch!!!

And the Reply is the kicker!

Dilly Dally sent this email:

COADC Executive Committee:

I would like to invite all of you (and your spouses if they wish to come) to dinner on Thursday, October 9th at 7:30 p.m. following the College Scholarship Reception to meet Ms. Brandy Douglass, the new COADC coordinator prior to the business meeting. We will have dinner at Abuelo’s on University Drive in College Station.

Please RSVP to me no later than Wednesday, October 8th to confirm your attendance.

This will be a great opportunity to sit down with Brandy and get to know her better before the meeting. I hope all of you can attend!

MY WITTY REPLY:

I would like to confirm that I will be at the Abuelo's Dinner without my spouse. For reasons unknown to me he has decided not to attend - rat bastard! (I'm the single girl in a club of about 100 married men over the age of 40)

Damn You - Capitol Grille

So at 1:45 I decided that maybe a grilled cheese would make me feel better. I've got some sort of weird sore throat thing going on and I'm still super sore from getting lost on Saturday. Comfort food was calling my name...."Allie eat me"...see calling my name. The lady at the grille said they are closed and that I could get a pre-made sandwich from the cooler. There's nothing comforting about a cold tuna sandwich that was made Lord only knows how long ago. Duh lady I don't feel good and you're not helping.

Bonus Star goes to Mr. Staffer for being the one that actually walked down to the cafeteria and talked to the lady. Thanks for being nice to the complainer!

She's BAA-ACK

I was at mass this evening and she was there in full force. Cat Lady...this really sweet older lady that attends my church. She's been gone for a few months, visiting her son I find out via the loud talking she did before mass started. Nice lady but she freaking smells like cat litter and cats and everything relating to cats, I kid you not. I know, I know, I shouldn't be making fun of people at church but bless her heart she needs a shower and maybe a better bra. I did pray that someone would sit next to me so I could scooch down the pew...

Jesus loves me, Yes he does.

*Part of my punishment for eye rolling during church is the pain I am in for getting lost on the hike and bike trail yesterday and going an extra 4 miles! Good work-out equals burning thighs and calves.

Friends of Mine

So I've been blogging for a whole whopping week now. I know my mama would be so proud but I haven't really told her yet - oops. I've come up with come crafty names for my friends. I'm sure they all really love me writing about them - if not oh well sorry 'bout your luck. Some friends I've already talked about and some not yet but to protect the identity of those who shall remain nameless you're all getting nicknamed whether you like it or not. Most everyone has so far been called by their job but I have lots of friends that are in the law profession so that's not going to work so well. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Mama = my mom - duh?

Dad = really?

Bro = the most awesome little brother any girl could have, he lives in Dallas and I miss him tons. He's funny and smart and I wish I had a job that gave me a company car and cell phone just like him.

Coach = she's my cousin that is a high school basketball coach and mother of 4, in the middle of building a house in the middle of nowhere.

Miss Peddler = someone I call my sister and love her like she is my sister....see this posting

Ad Girl = Bro's girlfriend and now a friend of mine. She's going in the advertising business and is mighty good at what she does. She's participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day walk. She tolerates our crazy family and the bear sandwhiches.

Lawyer = use to be my boss and then she left for law school and I took over her job. We really became friend - friends after she left and I don't know what I'd do without her. She's someone that will let me bitch to no end and then laugh when it's all over. She also likes to go to the movies with me - we meet there, watch the show, and leave....feeling as if we've had some awesome quality time together.

Selena = she's a lawyer too but more importantly she loves to sing and dance and mostly just be crazy for all of our enjoyment. She's sassy and drinks more champagne (out of a can) than anyone else I know.

Golfer = is a wonderful mother and attorney as well. She played golf in college and professionally for a while. She has the cutest baby ever and I love to go over and play with them. The only person I know that when I go over to visit I can fall asleep on the couch and she just leaves me there - I must have been really tired.

Winter = my only friend from high school that I talk to on a regular basis. He's in law school right now and live far away. We have an on going joke of marriage at the age of 35 or 40 (I can't remember which). His family is a constant source of humor for me; so is he.

Attorney = is living the life downtown. She's on the corporate fast track, and not loving it so much - tuffing it out long enough to pay off the student loans and build up a wedding fund and then she's out of there (maybe). We were the single girls but now she's got a boyfriend and he's treating her like a princess. Good for her!

PA = my cousin who is currently attending Wake Forrest University in North Carolina. She love the medical field but tends to call me freaked out about a test or problem. For some crazy reason I'm the one who can calm her down or at least make her laugh and take a deep breath. Miss her tons but so very happy that she's jumped out of her comfort zone and rocking the Carolinas!!!

Dilly Dally = is my Muddy Buddy. We're scheduled to run the Muddy Buddy race in Dallas - good luck to us. I've slowly been training and I hope she's still my friend after this. We have long discussions about nothing in particular and laugh at other people. Her husband and I have a running joke about the love for cashews and exchange cans of them when we visit each other.

There are many other people I will write about but can figure out names for them....if you know who you are and I don't have you listed on here please give me a suggestion for your name or I'll pick it and it may not be nice! If you are on the list and don't like your name...let me know and we can discuss a change.

Things to Smile About

I'm not saying that I'm singing right now but after the car debacle yesterday here's some things to be happy about.

Fall Weather - not that it's cooling off in Austin but at least it's not 100. The weather channel was showing snow in the North....something to dream of for later.....much much later.

Halloween Candy - purchased the econo bag yesterday at Sam's. Got to love a month of having candy around the house for no real reason. Any bets on how much candy will actually still be in the basket by the time Trick-or-Treaters show up at my door step? I'm not saying but I'm saying that basket's going to be refilled before the 31st.

College Football - I'm so excited to be going to the Aggie game next weekend. True reason to drink beer before 10am(not that I really need a reason); the smell of smokers going on the asphalt; sausage with mustard on tortillas for breakfast and lunch and dinner; being on campus and remembering how rediculious I acted while I was there (see drinking before 10am); and secretly wishing I could act that way again every once in a while.

Hamburgers and French Fries - I love the grease on a good burger and as of late that's been the food of choice (except texmex - duh) Mike's Pub, Players and Red Robin just to name a few. I say screw the diet and inhale some grease. It will make you feel better and duh-it's just plain good.

$$$ down the tube

So I just picked my car up from the shop....Un-be-lievable. I just spent $190.00 on a new factory model gas cap for the car. Really, they better have been sure that the gas cap was the only problem or I'm going to through a screaming, hissy fit the next time the check engine blinks at me. I can think of about 10,000 things that could have been wrong but never in 10,000 year would I have guess that for the last 10 years this car has had the incorrect gas cap. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Lawyer get the bonus star today for picking me and my crap up at the shop at taking me to work - by the way she has a fancy new car and it's making me wish for something shiny and new....which I could have purchased with the $190. This thing is not shiny at all....there could be some bedazzling of a gas cap in my future (just joking - maybe).

This and That

Rant: This is for the guy that cut me off at the grocery store yesterday....thank you. I know you were probably in a super big hurry for your douche bag meeting but was it really necessary to steal the parking spot that I waited for patiently with blinker going; I mean you looked right me.

No worries though - I finally got some food and ate a de-licious taco salad for dinner. Peddler came over last night to hang out and watch DWTS. I love this girl....we've been friends for a long time but really started hanging out when she went to college, Fightn' Texas Aggie Class '07. We have a lot in common and she's probably the closest thing to a sister that I've ever had. When my parents moved from Canyon to Abilene, they moved less than a mile from her parents. So for the last 6 years we've spent holidays, long weekends and many football game weekends together. Since I graduated from college I can say 90% of the awesome times I've had have been with and because of her. Peddler is hilarious and I miss her when she travels the craft show circuit. I'm a little jealous of her job - she's the events manger for the Peddler Show. Thank goodness she lives in Austin so when she's in town we get to hang out! Peddler received the bonus star yesterday for laughing at my blog even if she didn't thing it was funny and being genuinly sad that Kim Kardashian was kicked off of DWTS!!!

Please Don't Judge...

....but I ate KFC for dinner. Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with fast food or drive thru windows but I just have this disgust for the Kentucky Fried, chiefly because I hate chicken skin and bones. Seeing as that's the case I did order the chicken strip wrap....my vote is a blah and a half. Said fast food joint is the closed eatery to my house and in the 5 1/2 years that I've lived in this neighborhood I've NEVER pulled ordered at that window. I was just so hungry and don't have any food in my house other than the huge block of velveeta and as much as I love queso and could make some I don't even have any chips to scoop into my mouth. Yes, I know going to the freaking grocery store would solve 90% of the problem but I was ready to be at home and in couch clothes. This is NOT what I unwrapped when I got home - trust me the 16 year old that made my wrap forgot that it might actually need to be wrapped.....duh!

But like always the Diet Dr Pepper was EXCELLENT so that get the bonus star for today!!!

After work I had some serious errand running to take care of so the mall was beckoning. I had a shirt to drop off at the alterations place, needed to get Designer a couple of bridal shower gifts so I can get them in the mail (one of her parties is on Sunday, oops). I also did some returning and exchanging to do thanks to Bath & Body Works and Victoria's Secret. Then there was Hobby Lobby for the rest of Designer's shower gifts. She's getting married on November 15th so one of the showers is featuring at Christmas ornament presentation for their first tree. Super cute idea so I got this fantastic glass honeymoon getaway car with the tin cans attached to the back. I would also like to announce that I didn't make any frivolous purchases....just lots of window shopping thank you very much.

We're not Crazy....We're just Catholic

Thought this was super funny and since it's Sunday why not!

----------Reasons why people think we're "crazy"----------

-We like to keep Mass interesting. We sit, stand and kneel, in no particular order. Probably just to keep the blood flowing.

- It's not merlot and Ritz they're serving; it's the Flesh and Blood of Jesus. No, really.

- Infant Baptism isn't dumb; it's after-life insurance.

- We really like statues. A lot.

- After every confession, everyone hits themselves on the head. This is because they have realized that they forgot that really big sin, and they know that it'll hang over their head til the next time.

- We've always been taught that celibacy til marriage is the only way to go, forever and ever, amen. That being said...- "Sin on Saturday. Pray on Sunday. Confess on Monday".

- The Virgin Mary is not a God and we don't treat her as such. But she is without sin, gave birth to Jesus and did it without having sex. That warrants more than a little respect.

- There are two very different, irreconcilable factions in every single church in the world. They are known as the Saturday or Sunday Mass bunch.

- You miss JPII more than you miss some relatives... but who misses that child molester uncle anyway?

- Priests have been giving us alcohol since we were little kids. No wonder any one of us can drink Protestants under the table.

-Whatever you gave up for Lent, you have it in your hands at 11:59 p.m. Saturday night, counting the seconds til midnight.

- We all know Da Vinci code is bogus and inaccurate. Yet we'll still read it if nothing else is going on

-We have Midnight Mass so there are no interruptions on Christmas morning

- You've slipped out an Amen after the Pledge of Allegiance.

- Holy Water can kill just about anything. So Protestants are pretty much screwed if a vampire comes calling.

- Pope Benedict XVI scares you. Badly.

- It's not uncommon for just one family to take up an entire pew or two.

- When in doubt, say a Hail Mary.

- Whenever anyone in Star Wars saga says "May the Force Be With You", we get the urge to say "And Also With You"

- The Pope does indeed wear a funny hat. But it's way more interesting than Joel Osteen's suit and tie.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

I was wrong and I'll be the first to admit it.....the furniture was successfully moved back into the living room and the world is right again. Bro and Ad Girl totally rocked this weekend by helping set up for the baby shower and then helping move all the furniture back in this afternoon; I think mostly because Bro wanted to take a nap and watch football but hey who cares why? Awesomeness is also the status because after mass went to the favorite Tex Mex place and they took care of the bill at lunch today. That's a rock star in my book. Ad Girl gets a bonus star for ordering a glass of champagne with lunch. You might be thinking; this girl eats a lot of tex mex and the answer is YES! Who wouldn't love melty cheese on top of ranchero sauce and tortillas filled with more melty cheese - duh.

Things I'm loving about today:

1. Blackout curtains in the living room to make it extra dark for napping.....thanks for doing that mom.

2. Fall decorations I just finished putting out including this wreath.

3. The Tyler Candle burning that smells kinda like heaven; sent French Market.

4. The Ice Tea Maker

5. Not really have anything to do.....

Survival

So it really does all work out in the end....my mom is right. I've been stressing over the baby shower hosting but it was great. The tables were decorated beautifully (if I do say so myself), the food was good, and the mommy-to-be was showered with 10,000 gifts. I would say it was hit with just a few snags along the way. There are always thing you learn about yourself and other when doing something like this......some good and some bad.

My cousin, Coach, was in with her new baby for the shower and it was great to get to hang out with her afterward. She's got the house of crazy and it was nice to be able to visit. She's got 4 kids and is in the middle of building a new house so the current 2/1 they are renting is getting really old. I believe the words were the walls are closing in and the kids are all getting bigger; if we're not in the new house before Christmas, Santa's going to have a lot of explaining to do! Not that I don't love her kids but it was nice for her husband to take on 3 out of 4 for her today.

Procrastination: I currently sit on my living room floor....why you ask? Well I have all of my furniture in the garage and can't move it by myself. Bro helped my move it out for the shower and he isn't coming back over tonight to help my return it. More than likely it could be a week before I have it back in here....I'm taking bets. How long do you think I can live without the couch?

Waiting on a chicken

So it seems that procrastination can be anywhere. My brother is in town and we went to eat at my favorite texmex place for lunch. It was packed, as usual for a Friday when there are 10,000 things going on in and around town this weekend. After consuming about 10,000 baskets of chips and hot sauce, I started to wonder what was taking so long. Bro ordered the Straight Plate, enchiladas with eggs on top but it's on the menu so it wasn't crazy or anything. I look at Bro and ask what the problem could be...

Bro: maybe they ran out of eggs or something
Me: yeah or maybe they have a chicken in the back and they are waiting for it to lay the stupid eggs on your enchiladas...

Now that's procrastination....waiting for a chicken to lay an egg

Friday Business

It's Friday people!!! You all know what that means, tons of errand running, driving around town and general non-real job stuff. I'm hosting a baby shower at my house tomorrow from 11:00am-1:00pm and the house is nowhere near ready for people to come over. Here are a few of the things I've procrastinated on all week and have to get finished before 10:00am tomorrow...

1. Mow the lawn

2. Clean the kitchen floor (after last weekend's flower havoc - it's an insult to linoleum everywhere)

3. Wash the sheets in the guest room

4. Vacuum the entire house

5. Wash the guest bathroom towels

6. Move the living room furniture into the garage and set up the long tables and chairs

It should be doable but I also have my brother and girlfriend spending the weekend at my house so I'm thinking Bro should help....

Beginning

There is always a good excuse...for procrastination. I've been a procrastinator all my life, even from the beginning like going five days past my mom's due date, not loosing my baby teeth before my permanent teeth started coming in; you know, stuff like that. I would like to blame someone for this trait but who. It's not like my parents could genetically give that to me, or could they?

I like to pretend that I strive under the pressure of a deadline but for some reason I push it to the extreme 90% of the time. In this blog you will get to know the true and sometimes crazy procrastination that is my life and there will be backfires for sure. Sit back, laugh and take some time to enjoy the procrastination.
